LOOK: LSU social media pays tribute to Myles Brennan following retirement announcement
Following his official announcement that he was retiring from football, LSU paid tribute to quarterback Myles Brennan on social media. The former Tigers quarterback played for LSU from 2017 through this offseason, but shared on Monday that he would no longer be playing football instead of competing for the starting job this year.
LSU’s football Twitter account quickly shared his farewell message, stating that Brennan was “Forever a Tiger.”
LSU pays tribute to Myles Brennan
Brennan joined LSU as a four-star quarterback prospect in the 2017 recruiting class, where he chose LSU over a multitude of offers from Division I schools. Brennan was a member of the 2019-20 national championship-winning Tigers team behind Joe Burrow, but injuries played a major factor throughout his career after Burrow’s departure to the NFL.
He missed the majority of the 2020 season with a torn abdomen, suffering a significant setback in his time as a leader of the team. Prior to his injury that season, Brennan began throwing 79-of-131 passing attempts for 11 touchdowns and just three interceptions.
Last season, Brennan competed with Max Johnson for the starting quarterback job at LSU, but again had his season derailed by a season-ending injury in 2021. Over his entire career, he amassed 1,712 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Myles Brennan’s retirement message
“Tiger Nation, over the last five years, I have given all of my body, heart, and soul to LSU Football. Playing for LSU has been a dream come true,” shared Brennan in his official statement. “Wearing the purple and gold, running into Death Valley, winning a national championship, and starting at quarterback for the LSU Tigers — what more could a kid ask for? I will never forget the time I’ve spent and the memories I have made here.
