LSU tight end Ka’Morreun Pimpton plans to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal, per On3’s Hayes Fawcett. He spent two seasons at LSU.

In the 2024 regular season, Pimpton amassed 11 appearances, tallying six receptions for 79 yards. Pimpton notched a career-high 53 receiving yards in LSU’s 37-17 win over Oklahoma on Nov. 30.

Pimpton played in eight games last season as a true freshman and recorded one catch for a single yard. Despite Pimpton’s lack of production in his debut campaign, Pimpton received rave reviews during preseason training camp and was even named an On3 Preseason True Freshman All-American.

Pimpton played high school football at North Crowley High School, where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 146 overall recruit and No. 9 tight end in the 2023 recruiting cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

LSU will square off against Baylor in the Kinder’s Texas Bowl on New Year’s Eve at 3:30 p.m. ET. Despite LSU’s disappointing finish this season, Kelly is still confident in the future of his program.

“The standard is the standard here,” Kelly said after LSU’s Week 14 win over Oklahoma. “I didn’t come down here to go 8-4. I’m not happy about 8-4. Nobody in that room is happy about 8-4 but they’re happy about playing well after a 3-game losing streak and they bounced back.

“This game teaches you lessons about grit, toughness, perseverance and not giving up and letting go of the rope. They easily could have fractured, right? They stuck together and stayed committed and beat two really good football teams in this league. … The big picture is I’m excited about our future regardless what people seem to think.”
