The LSU Tigers worked through the transfer portal to add depth at defensive back, with Jarrick Bernard-Converse being one of the top acquisitions. However, after suffering an injury, head coach Brian Kelly gave an update on the cornerback after practice on Tuesday.
Kelly said Brenard-Converse is going to be out for the rest of spring practice, dealing with a foot issue. He provided a timeline as to when the Oklahoma State transfer would be back to working out and overall, did not seem too worried about the injury.
“He had a Jones fracture of his foot,” Kelly said. “We repaired it and he’s doing terrific. He’s on pace to be back for our June training. So we feel really good about where he’s going to be. We don’t have any concerns about that being a lingering situation.”
Bernard-Converse left the Oklahoma State program after defensive coordinator Jim Knowles left to join Ryan Day and the Ohio State Buckeyes. He spent four seasons in Stillwater, recording 195 tackles, four sacks, and two interceptions. He also added 7.5 tackles for loss and 24 pass deflections over his career.

Now, once his injury has fully healed, he will be playing for Kelly and his home state of Louisiana.
Brian Kelly explains why Myles Brennan returned to LSU
For all the struggles he has gone through at LSU, quarterback Myles Brennan is back for his sixth season in Baton Rouge. However, there was a time when he considered moving on.
After injuries kept him sidelined the majority of the past two seasons, Brennan entered the NCAA transfer portal this past November. It seemed to him that his opportunity with the Tigers might never come, with players who arrived well after him threatening to take his spot should he return. But after speaking with first-year head coach Brian Kelly, Brennan decided to give LSU one final chance.
“I think that was part of the reason he shared with me that he decided to come back,” Kelly said in a recent press conference after spring practice. “He wanted to be in a system where the head coach was involved with the quarterbacks. Part of the system is certainly quarterback-friendly. The head coach is involved in it and I think that had a lot to do with it. He’s a Tiger, you know. He loves LSU. You can see he’s in so much better shape physically and mentally he’s in a good spot. He’s a veteran and that is such a great commodity to have in college football today.”
