Since it was announced that Ed Orgeron‘s time at LSU was ending, controversial allegations have come to light. One of said allegations came from Matt Trent of WBRZ News in Baton Rouge, where sources relayed to the television station about Orgeron allegedly bringing “girlfriends” to LSU practices.

“With regards to Orgeron’s personal life bleeding into his coaching life, sources also tell WBRZ that there were multiple practices where ‘girlfriends’ would be in attendance at prax and would ‘interfere,'” tweeted Trent. “To the degree of children of the women taking part in drills with team.”

After the allegations made their way around, LSU quarterback Myles Brennan cleared the air.

“I have been at LSU for quite some time now and can confirm this has never happened,” tweeted Brennan. “Not once.”

Prior to the 2021 season, Brennan was projected to be the starting quarterback for Orgeron’s LSU squad this season. However, a broken arm suffered this summer put him out of action.

Continuing, Brennan wasn’t the only LSU player to dispel the allegations. Additionally, running back Tyrion Davis-Price tweeted the allegations were “Fake news.”

Moreover, linebacker Andre Anthony and defensive end Ali Gaye also came to the defense of their coach. Anthony tweeted that he’s “never seen anything like this happen” since he’s been with the Tigers. Furthermore, Gaye also stated the rumors were untrue.

Despite Orgeron coaching LSU on borrowed time, his players are still coming to his defense.

Ed Orgeron’s future

Last weekend, LSU sent shockwaves through the college football world with its decision to part ways with Orgeron. Despite an upset win over Florida on Saturday, the two parties reached a mutual agreement — allowing the national championship coach to finish 2021.

Orgeron made his 2021 plans clear, stating he will continue recruiting, coaching and leading his team to the best of his ability. However, the Louisiana native left his future career options wide open, only committing to a year off in 2022.

“There’s a couple of other things I want to get into, we’ll see if my career takes me on that path,” Orgeron said during Wednesday’s SEC teleconference. “If it doesn’t, I’ll see. I’m just open-minded right now. But I do need to take a year off, I want to spend some time with my children.”

Content with LSU’s decision, Ed Orgeron and his family remain invested in football. With three sons all focused on future coaching careers, an Orgeron will likely appear on the sidelines in some capacity.

Even with his future in flux, Ed Orgeron’s focus is on Lane Kiffin, Matt Corral and the Ole Miss Rebels this weekend.
