Tucker (Ga.) four-star EDGE CJ Jackson was committed to Georgia Tech since June, but announced his decommitment from the Yellow Jackets on Oct. 5. The 6-foot-3.5, 220-pounder has wasted no timing picking his recruitment back up since then.

Jackson’s first visit since coming back on the board will come this weekend, as he’s making a trip to Baton Rouge to see LSU as it takes on Auburn on Saturday night. The Tigers have a chance to impress the No. 187 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking — who also ranks as the No. 64 recruit in the On300.

On the latest edition of The Inside Scoop, The Bengal Tiger’s Shea Dixon joined On3’s Josh Newberg to detail where the Tigers stand with the elite EDGE and why his pledge to the powerhouse SEC program would be a major win for Brian Kelly and Co.

Jackson is LSU’s biggest EDGE target on the board

Jackson took an official visit to LSU in June just before he committed to Georgia Tech. The Tigers were high on the blue-chipper and had him pegged as one of their top-two targets at EDGE, along with Duncanville (Texas) Five-Star Plus+ Texas commit Colin Simmons.

Now that one is back on the board, the Tigers are looking to work quick to add Jackson’s pledge to a recruiting class that currently ranks No. 9 in the nation, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Ranking.

“(LSU) were chasing really two edge rushers over the summer and hosted them both,” Dixon said. “It seems to me like Colin Simmons is pretty locked in right now with Texas. CJ Jackson, however, decommits … for him to decommit and then turn right around and visit LSU this weekend, I think is telling.”

Jackson told On3’s Chad Simmons that LSU is one of five schools on his mind, along with Alabama, Auburn, Colorado and UCF. He is planning to visit UCF later this month and is looking to schedule others before he makes his final decision.

If he were to pledge to LSU, Jackson would become the Tigers’ eighth top-200 commitment, per the On3 Industry Ranking. The class is headlined by top-100 recruits Jackson (La.) Zachary four-star tight end Trey’Dez Green and Denham Springs (La.) four-star safety Dashawn McBryde. LSU’s lone EDGE commitment is Ruston (La.) three-star Ahmad Breaux.

“I think this is a player we’re really watching closely, because if it does go LSU’s way, if he does end up in this class, he certainly would be one of LSU’s highest-ranked commits at a position they’re continually looking to address this cycle,” Dixon said.

Jackson has an On3 NIL Valuation of $71K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
