LSU wide receiver Kayshon Boutte has issued a statement on rumors that he plans to enter the transfer portal, providing some clarity on his 2022 status. On Wednesday afternoon, the former five-star recruit took to Twitter to provide LSU fans with the latest on his transfer portal decision.

“Ignore the rumors… I’m locked in,” Boutte tweeted with a tiger emoji.

The matter-of-fact message seems to squash all transfer rumors which started online after Kayshon Boutte liked several tweets from Alabama players welcoming LSU transfer Eli Ricks.

Boutte is a major part of LSU’s offense, recording 83 catches in 16 career games with 1,243 yards and 14 touchdowns. Despite playing just six games in 2021, he finished the season with nine receiving touchdowns.

In the midst of a coaching change, LSU has lost several key contributors from past rosters to the transfer portal, including former starting quarterback Max Johnson, wide receivers Deion Smith and Trey Palmer, along with Ricks.

Myles Brennan returns to LSU

LSU Tigers quarterback Myles Brennan did not play this season after suffering a compound fracture in his non-throwing arm just before the season. He did not return to the field this season, and entered the NCAA Transfer Portal on Nov. 3.

But after exploring his options, Brennan has decided to remove his name from the portal and will instead return to LSU for another season.

“There’s no place like home,” Brennan tweeted. “Let’s ride tiger nation!”

Before his injury, Brennan engaged in a battle with Max Johnson for the starting quarterback job at LSU. Brennan also missed the majority of the 2020 season with a torn abdomen and allowed Johnson to establish himself as an option. Prior to his injury in 2020, Brennan was 79-of-131 for 11 touchdowns and three interceptions. He has thrown for 1,712 yards in his LSU career, which began in 2017.

Johnson also recently entered the transfer portal, leaving Garrett Nussmeier as the only scholarship on LSU’s roster for the upcoming bowl game. Playing Nussmeier would likely burn his redshirt, which has been an ongoing conversation at LSU for a lot of the later portion of the season.

Next season, Nussmeier and Brennan will be joined by On3 Consensus four-star quarterback Walker Howard in the LSU quarterback room. Howard officially signed with the Tigers on National Signing Day this month. The On3 Consensus rankings list Howard as the fifth best quarterback and No. 40 overall recruit in the 2022 class.
