WATCH: LSU's Tommy White hit second home run of the night, 10th of the season

LSU baseball’s off to a hot start this season, thanks to their big bats. And in their Tuesday night matchup against Nicholls State, the Tigers were swinging for the fences yet again. One Tiger, in particular, third baseman Tommy White, hit a three-run dinger in the third inning to extend the Tigers’ lead to 5-1. And it appears that it was so nice that White decided to do it twice.
In the sixth inning, the sophomore from St. Pete Beach, FL, stepped to the plate for what would be his last at bat of the game. The game was likely out of reach for Nicholls State at this point as they trailed LSU 10-2 in the bottom of the inning. But that didn’t matter to White. With the count at 2-0, the Colonels pitcher left one right over the plate, and White jumped all over it. The Tigers third baseman launched it out of the park for an opposite-field home run. And since a runner was already on base, he also received credit for his third RBI of the night. In the video below, you can check out White’s second home run of the night against Nicholls State.

The Tigers would go on to win 12-2 and only need 7 innings to pick up the win.
It wasn’t just the Tigers bats that came up big; LSU’s pitching, led by Tuesday’s starter Christian Little controlled Nicholls’ offense. Little was assisted in the impressive pitching performance by four relievers: Thatcher Hurd, Bryce Collins, Micah Bucknam, and Will Hellmers. However, the win on the night would go to Gavin Guidry. Guidry would earn his first-ever win of his college career and improved to 1-0 on the season. The true freshman from Lake Charles, LA, entered the game in the third inning and was lights out on the mound. Guidry pitched just 1.1 innings, but was perfect as he did now allow a run, or a hit, and did not walk a single batter he faced while striking out three of the four batters he faced. Overall, the LSU’s pitchers allowed only two runs on four hits against the Colonels. The Tigers would finish the game with 13 strikeouts as well.
Up next for LSU is a huge top-ten matchup with the No. 6 South Carolina Gamecocks. The Tigers will travel to Columbia, S.C., to take on the Gamecocks in their home confines at Founders Park. That series will be a three-game series and will start on Thursday, April 6.
