LSU trending for 4-star OT Ethan Calloway ahead of commitment date

Three expert predictions have been logged in favor of LSU after Lake Norman (Mooresville, N.C.) offensive tackle Ethan Calloway visited Baton Rouge last weekend.

LSU has risen to a 92.1% chance to land Calloway’s commitment according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM). In addition to Gators Online’s Keith Niebuhr, The Bengal Tiger’s Billy Embody and Shea Dixon logged predictions for the Tigers this week.

Calloway is the No. 215 overall prospect and No. 17 offensive tackle according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 5 player in North Carolina.

On3 has Calloway rated higher than other recruiting services according to the On3 Industry Comparison. He is the No. 74 overall prospect, No. 10 offensive tackle and No. 1 player in North Carolina according to the 2024 On300.

Calloway has taken multiple visits to LSU

Dixon, who entered his prediction with a 75% confidence level, pointed to Calloway’s multiple trips from North Carolina to Louisiana during his recruitment.

“Then, there’s the reality that in the span of about nine months, Calloway made three visits from North Carolina to Louisiana — one in the fall, one in the spring and one in the summer,” Dixon wrote for The Bengal Tiger.

… He’s also maintained an open line of communication since landing the LSU offer, and that has allowed offensive line coach Brad Davis and the staff to really build on the relationship they have with Calloway and his family.”

Florida, Penn State among those still pushing to land Calloway

Calloway also took June official visits to Florida, Georgia and Penn State. His long unofficial visit list for this spring included trips to LSU, Florida, Georgia, Auburn, Florida State and Alabama.

Florida was Calloway’s first of those four official visits. He told Gators Online that Billy Napier’s staff “set a really high standard” for the other programs.

“It was really good, you know,” Calloway told Gators Online. “This was the first one of four so I was more excited for them to set a standard. This kind of showed me what an official visit is like. Before this, all I had seen on social media was the photo shoot or the hotel room — stuff like that.”

He is expected to announce his commitment on Friday, June 30.

The 6-foot-7, 300-pound offensive tackle currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $63K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
