Without a doubt, LSU recruiting has been electric under head coach Brian Kelly. The Tigers finished with the nation’s No. 7 recruiting class in the 2024 cycle, and 2025 is looking to be even better. Behind a staggering 11 commits, LSU currently ranks No. 1 in the 2025 On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

A trio of five-star prospects lead the way in Belleville (Mich.) quarterback and No. 1 overall recruit Bryce Underwood, Duncanville (Texas) Five-Star Plus+ wide receiver Dakorien Moore and Metairie (La.) St Martin’s Episcopal five-star running back Harlem Berry.

LSU recruiting insider Shea Dixon spoke about a handful of prospects for which LSU currently leads in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) during an appearance on The Inside Scoop football recruiting show.

4-star IOL Micah DeBose

Mobile (Ala.) Vigor four-star interior offensive lineman Micah DeBose decommitted from Georgia in December and has since been heavily linked with both Auburn and LSU. He visited the blue and orange Tigers last weekend and will return to LSU this weekend.

LSU currently leads in the RPM with a 96.4% chance of landing DeBose. Expert predictions favoring LSU have been logged by On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons, Auburn recruiting insider Cole Pinkston and LSU insiders Billy Embody and Shea Dixon.

“There is concern as much as LSU knows that’s been the main competition,” Dixon said about DeBose’s recent Auburn visit. “On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons moved his On3 RPM pick from Auburn to LSU during the February dead period, so it was evident that LSU started to really trend here.

“I’ll tell you what makes this one interesting — LSU lands over the weekend Tyler Miller, the No. 1 interior offensive lineman in America. That gives LSU three o-line commits and now two top-100 OL commits with Devin Harper as well. Then you’ve got Brett Bordelon, an On3 Industry four-star on board. Brad Davis, the offensive line coach at LSU, is on fire cycle after cycle. With three commitments already on the o-line, what do you normally take? You usually take four or five. They went heavy last year and took six.

“The next guy up that everybody is Micah DeBose. Micah DeBose was at Auburn, he had planned out a number of visits. Then he tells On3 over the weekend following the Auburn visit, shaking things up — ‘I’ll be at LSU next weekend.’ This came after Tyler Miller announced his commitment, so I almost get the sense that dominoes are dropping in Baton Rouge. It feels like a game of musical chairs of offensive linemen, and you definitely don’t want to be the last one standing in that group. I feel like Micah DeBose now heads to town once again on commitment watch.”

4-star RB James Simon

Shreveport (La.) Calvary Baptist Academy four-star running back James Simon ranks No. 103 overall in the 2025 On300 and is the No. 4 prospect from the state of Louisiana.

LSU currently leads at 94.1% in the RPM behind expert predictions from Embody and Dixon.

“I think a lot of out-of-state schools have made an impression on him. Texas A&M has been on him heavily, Texas has tried to be on him heavily. Even Georgia, Alabama, Florida — all of these schools have hosted him at different points. He’s taken his time to really look around at all options.

“That being said, LSU has locked down Louisiana this cycle. There isn’t a guy that they’ve offered and been after that hasn’t committed to them except James Simon. He’s been on ‘commit watch’ for months now because we’ve known that LSU and Frank Wilson, one of the best recruiters in Americas with running backs, wanted that one-two punch of Harlem Berry and James Simons. Two Louisiana prospects, both top-10 running backs nationally. Harlem being a five-star at No. 1, James Simon is the No. 8 running back. Who wouldn’t want them both? And LSU has gone all-in for them.

“LSU is still the team to beat. Simon told us he is going to come back again this month. While he is going to be on a bit of a whirlwind tour of visits, he’s already talked about officials. With Louisiana kids, you just never know and with college coaching staffs they could have them convinced that if you’re ready to do it to shut it down at some point. So I kind of move forward every time he’s around by putting him on commit watch.”

4-star OT Lamont Rogers

Mesquite (Texas) Horn four-star offensive tackle Lamont Rogers ranks No. 50 overall and No. 8 among offensive tackles in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

LSU leads with an 81.2% chance of landing Rogers, per the RPM.

“I think the answer is yes,” Dixon said about whether there is room for Rogers in LSU’s class. “As I talked about the musical chairs with offensive linemen, you recruit as well as Brad Davis has done and you start to get to just pick. Who is on your board and who do you really like — you tell them, ‘Hey, we’re filling up, come to campus, the time is now.’ Let’s add another visitor for this weekend — not only Micah DeBose but Lamont Rogers will be back to campus on March 22. So we get the sense for the top-10 offensive tackle that he’s looking at OU, A&M, there’s been a number of schools that have tried to get in the mix here.

“But LSU has always been considered the team to beat. I don’t think it’s out of left field that quickly after they land Tyler Miller. . . that when you have three o-linemen in and you take five — if you do, the first two names we’re mentioning are Micah DeBose and Lamont Rogers. Now Brad Davis has both those guys coming in this weekend for another visit.”
