LSU and Texas have long battled over elite prospects from cycle to cycle. The 2025 recruiting class is no different. No. 1 wide receiver Dakorien Moore decommitted from LSU last month and now Texas trends for Moore in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM).

Now, the RPM shows one going the other way.

LSU is trending to flip Melbourne (Fla.) Eau Gallie four-star defensive lineman Brandon Brown away from the Longhorns.

LSU recruiting insider Billy Embody and Texas insider Justin Wells both logged expert predictions on Monday favoring the Tigers to flip Brown’s commitment. LSU now leads for Brown with an 88.2% chance of landing his pledge.

The 6-foot-2, 275-pound Brown visited Baton Rouge over the weekend for an official visit and was also at LSU this spring for the Tigers’ spring game.

“What stood out was how family-oriented everything was and going to eat breakfast at Coach Kelly’s house proved it even more,” his mother, Nyesha Brown, told On3 after Brandon’s official visit. “There’s nothing I don’t like about it.”

Embody breaks down his pick here.

Brown is the nation’s No. 326 overall prospect, No. 26 defensive lineman and No. 45 recruit from Florida in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

On3 is higher on Brown than the other major recruiting services. He ranks No. 218 nationally and No. 20 among defensive linemen in the 2025 On300.

Relationship with Bo Davis was key part of decision to commit to Texas

Brown has been committed to Texas since December 19, 2023. Then-Longhorns defensive line coach Bo Davis was a key reason for Brown’s commitment. Now, Davis is the defensive line coach at LSU.

“Texas just seemed to fit me and my family,” Brown told Inside Texas at the time. “I feel like if you’re an elite DT, why wouldn’t you want to play at Texas with Coach (Bo) Davis? He has two first-round picks right now.”

Brown is currently set to take three additional official visits to Tennessee (June 7), Texas (June 14) and USC (June 21).
