LSU schedules matchup versus UIC, Chicago homecoming for Aneesah Morrow
LSU women’s basketball continues its thoughtful trend of scheduling their non-conference road games with their players in mind, announcing Monday that they will be facing off against the University of Illinois at Chicago on Thursday, December 19. The hometown of senior guard Aneesah Morrow in what will be the final season of her college career.
“LSU’s game at UIC will continue a trend in which LSU has scheduled road games for its players to have the chance to play in front of their hometown fans,” read a statement from LSU Athletic Communications.
Last season the Tigers played a non-conference matchup at Coppin State for superstar Angel Reese in front of her hometown of Baltimore. And along with the Tigers’ trip to Chicago in honor of Morrow, they will also be facing off against Grambling State on December 8 in Bossier City, Louisiana. The hometown of sophomore Mikaylah Williams.
“We are very excited to have a game in Chicago against UIC which allows Aneesah to play back in her hometown,” head coach Kim Mulkey said. “There will be a lot of people that have followed Aneesah from the beginning of her basketball career that will have the opportunity to come out and see her play with LSU. Chicago is a city with rich basketball history so we look forward to bring our team there for a game.”

Two days prior to their matchup against UIC, the Tigers are scheduled to take on Seton Hall in the 11th annual Basketball Hall of Fame Women’s Showcase at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut on December 17. The second straight season LSU will participate in the Hall of Fame Series after opening last season against Colorado in Las Vegas.
Morrow started off her college career in her hometown, spending her freshman and sophomore seasons at DePaul before transferring to LSU ahead of the 2023-2024 season. Averaging an impressive 23.8 points, 13 rebounds, and 2.6 steals per game with the Blue Demons before breaking out in the SEC. Earning First Team All-SEC honors and All-America Honorable Mention recognition from three publications last season.
Last year Morrow averaged 16.4 points and 10 rebounds per game with 21 double-doubles. Which ranked No. 5 in the country last year as she returns to LSU as a top-five active scorer and rebounder in the nation for women’s basketball. Looking to continue adding to her impressive resume next season in front of her hometown and beyond in her senior year.
