LSU's Gavin Dugas helps Dylan Crews set school runs record with first-inning RBI double vs. Florida

Just a few minutes after Dylan Crews won the Golden Spikes Award, the LSU superstar set the program record for runs.
Crews led off the top of the first inning and then came around to score on a Gavin Dugas double.
The run scored gave Crews 96 runs on the season, which is the most in program history.
Prior to the game, Crews’ father George was interviewed about his son winning the Golden Spikes Award as the nation’s top player.
“It’s all about this team,” Crews’ father said. “It’s unbelievable. Jay Johnson is the greatest coach in baseball. The guys that he’s put together, the development — Dylan could not do this without all of those guys. That’s what it’s all about.”

Crews, a two-time SEC Player of the Year, entered the contest hitting .423 with 18 homers and 69 RBIs.
He is MLB.com’s No. 1 recruit for the 2023 MLB Draft.
“MLB Pipeline’s top-rated prospect in the 2023 Draft, Crews is a plus-plus hitter with plus power and some evaluators are even more bullish on his bat. He hits the ball as hard and as consistently as any collegian, thanks to a quick right-handed stroke, the strength and leverage in his 6-foot frame and a selectively aggressive approach. After creating some mild swing-and-miss concerns last summer, he’s controlling the strike zone and making contact better than ever, repeatedly hammering velocity and quality pitching,” MLB.com’s scouting report on Crews reads.
“A good athlete, Crews is showing more speed than in the past, with plus run times out of the batter’s box despite taking a big swing and well-above-average quickness once he gets going. He can steal an occasional base and has improved in center field, showing the ability to track down balls hit over his head. Most scouts are sold that he’ll stick in center at the big league level, and at worst, he’ll be an asset in right with solid arm strength.”
