Matt McMahon after back-to-back wins: 'There's no better feeling than winning'

It’s been a tough few years for LSU coach Matt McMahon, who has had his work cut out for him keeping the program hovering around .500.
Through 85 games, he’s one game above that mark. But the Tigers have won two straight. And there’s at least some thought that this current run of play could spark the Tigers.
“You hope, I know we talked about it yesterday, you hope it gives you some renewed confidence and belief,” McMahon said. “There’s no better feeling than winning. But I think it’s also about the process that our guys are staying the course and continuing to get better and improve. That’s what we’re trying to get done.”
After winning a tight weekend game on the road at Oklahoma by an 82-79 score, LSU had a more commanding stranglehold of the game against South Carolina in the middle of the week. It won 81-67.
The Tigers led for all but a few seconds. Most importantly, there was one spot that McMahon felt really good about.
“I’ve just been really proud of the five position,” he shared. “You look at Daimion Collins and Rob Miller tonight, I think they were 15 points, 10 rebounds, had six assists, only one turnover. Provided great rim protection. So we’re playing a lot of young guys. I think we started what two freshmen and played two more off the bench tonight.”

That should help continue building quality depth for the future. And on the future front, LSU is set to get some help with a renewed commitment to NIL.
In the meantime, LSU is trying to keep the mojo going.
“You’ve just got to keep getting better,” McMahon said. “Hopefully the players take some confidence from it and keep building. We know we’ve got monster games coming in here down the stretch.”
That’s putting it mildly.
Every opponent LSU will face the rest of the season is currently ranked in the AP Top 25. First up is a Saturday showdown with No. 2 Florida at 6 p.m. ET on the SEC Network.
Then games against No. 6 Tennessee, at No. 21 Mississippi State, at No. 17 Kentucky and against No. 7 Texas A&M follow. LSU has no choice but to try to build on the current momentum.
