Matt McMahon praises impact of Parker Edwards
Matt McMahon awarded senior walk-on Parker Edwards the start Wednesday for LSU‘s Senior Day, and the Louisiana native made the most of it. He played six minutes in the game and nailed two 3-pointers during the contest.
However, LSU was not able to beat visiting Missouri as the visitors staged a second-half comeback to leave with an 81-76 victory.
Despite the final result, McMahon was happy for Edwards and said his play sparked the team.
“I thought it was awesome,” McMahon said after the game. “It’s obviously been a very challenging two months, a lot of disappointment throughout. I’ve only had the opportunity to be around him here about seven, eight months now but he’s been an awesome teammate. He’s all about the right things. Already has his his degree from LSU, will finish up in May with his masters and I thought it was a special moment for him. Something he’ll remember forever and to start on your senior night and step up and start the game with back to back threes. I thought it really carried over and gave our entire team a lift. I thought we played with great energy, competed. I thought Parker really started that. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to sustain it for the entire 40 minutes.”
LSU fumbled chance to defeat Missouri
LSU had a 47-34 lead heading into halftime and looked to be on its way towards an important win amidst a lackluster SEC campaign that features only one win this calendar year.
But Missouri dominated the proceedings in the second half as Parker Edwards energy for not enough for Matt McMahon’s squad.

“Just disappointing,” McMahon said. “We come out to start the second half and we leave the ball there and give up an easy 15-footer, come down, turn it over. Give them some momentum to get it back to single-digits.”
Their was a great fan contingent in attendance for the game, which KJ Williams was appreciate of afterwards.
“With this being my first year, I was looking forward to coming here to LSU,” Williams said. “That’s why I came here because of the great fans they had, great fanbase. I would like to thank them for supporting us throughout the season knowing what the outcome was. They still came out, supported us, and gave us great energy.”
