Matt McMahon shares where LSU turns after Alabama loss
For the second time in four games, LSU took a hard loss to Alabama. Matt McMahon saw his team give up 109 points in both contests, with the latest coming in Baton Rouge. It was one LSU was competing in for over 30 minutes before seeing Alabama pulling away in the second half.
Playing the way Alabama does under Nate Oats, they were able to put up 44 three-point attempts compared to LSU’s 19. A lot of second-chance points were available as well due to 19 offensive rebounds for the Crimson Tide — not a winning recipe to win a basketball game in the SEC.
“There’s a lot to look at,” McMahon said during his postgame press conference. “I would just point to — they took 81 shots. We took 60. That was caused by their elite offensive rebounding and some of our turnovers. Obviously, they outscored us by a big margin at the three-point line.”
Alabama wound up making one less three-pointer than LSU attempted all afternoon. Five different Crimson Tide players wound up in double-figures and Mark Sears led the way with 23 points.
LSU has to turn the page quickly though and attempt to wash the poor performance from their memories. The Tigers are about to play their third game in six days with Florida being next up on the schedule. A trip to Gainesville will be a tough one and the Gators are a team McMahon has a ton of respect for.

“We got to keep getting better,” McMahon said. “Just got to get back to work tomorrow (Sunday). This is our first time doing the three games in six days deal where you go Wednesday, Saturday, Tuesday. So, we have to do a really good job turning the page tomorrow and start preparing for what I think is a really, really good Florida team on Tuesday.”
Florida is playing as well as anybody in the SEC at the moment, winning five out of their last six games. The latest was against Auburn in blowout fashion, likely cementing their spot as an NCAA Tournament team for the time being. Head coach Todd Golden will be hoping to keep the positive momentum inside of his program with a win.
Tuesday night will be the one and only meeting between Florida and LSU this season. Sure, the Alabama loss was a tough pill to swallow but everything can go away by leaving Gainesville with a win.
