It hasn’t been an easy go for Myles Brennan during his time at LSU. He’s face plenty of adversity since arriving in Baton Rouge — and he talked about that ahead of the Manning Passing Academy, which he’s attending in Louisiana this weekend.

Brennan has dealt with two injuries during his career, including an arm injury that kept him out for the entire 2022 season. He also played in three games during the 2020 COVID-19-impacted season and dealt with a coaching change this offseason when LSU brought in Brian Kelly from Notre Dame to replace Ed Orgeron.

After everything the last few years, Brennan said he’s trying to use that adversity to make himself better.

“I think just the adversity really has made me who I am today and it pushes me every day,” Brennan said. “I’m a competitor. I don’t give up, I don’t quit, I just keep going. There’s been a lot of downs, but I know that there’s some ups coming.”

He also offered some advice to anyone going through tough times in their career, drawing from his experience at LSU.

“It’s not going to be as perfect as you thought, 100%,” Brennan said. “If someone told me coming out of high school that you’re going to LSU for six years, you’re going to get hurt twice, you’re not going to start until COVID year, COVID’s going to happen, I’d have said, ‘I’m hanging it up now.’

“But just know that life is just ups and downs and you’ve just got to put your head down and keep going. So I think the ones that do that are going to succeed.”

Myles Brennan on facing adversity: ‘I don’t quit’

Brennan also looked back on his journey with the Tigers — one that didn’t turn out the way he expected. It hasn’t been easy, but he’s going to try to use everything he’s been through to turn in a strong final year with the program.

“I mean, I would have never thought it would have been like this,” Brennan said. “I know things happen for a reason. If there was anybody that I’d want this to happen to, it’d be myself. Because I know the adversity I’ve faced throughout my life and this is just part of it.

“For me personally, it’s like bring it on. Challenge me. So it’s been good. I don’t quit, I don’t give up, and I’m excited for what’s ahead.”
