Baton Rouge (La.) Liberty Magnet High School four-star running back Kaleb Jackson is announcing his commitment on the morning of July 12. Multiple programs are seeking a pledge from the 5-foot-10, 196 pound tailback, including Alabama, LSU and Texas A&M. According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, it is a tight battle to land Jackson with the Crimson Tide at 54.3% and the Tigers 43.3%.

Jackson took official visits to College Station and Tuscaloosa in June. He has also visited LSU twice unofficially.

Jackson’s experiences of Alabama and LSU are positive

The running back expressed praise towards Alabama and the program’s ability to develop running backs.

“Their history is deep,” Jackson told On3’s Joseph Hastings before his official visit with the Crimson Tide. “It goes way back. I think I could be one of those next ones who will be next up. One of the great ones. Just my game, my attitude, my humbleness. The way I approach the game, the way I look at it differently.”

He also spoke highly of LSU’s new staff led by head coach Brian Kelly.

“They’re trying to turn the program around,” Jackson told On3’s Billy Embody before his official visit with the Tigers. “They’re trying to have a season different from the past. Coach Frank called me and let me know he wanted me to come down. Coach J (recruiting specialist Jordan Arcement) has also been keeping up with me.”

If Jackson commits to Alabama, he would be the seventh-highest ranked player in Alabama’s 2023 recruiting class, which is currently No. 3 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings. He would also be the highest-ranked running back recruit in LSU’s class if he commits to the Tigers. LSU’s class is currently ranked No. 10 in the Team Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings.

Jackson is the No. 184 overall prospect and the No. 8 running back in the 2023 On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
