On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine has LSU trending for 3 key recruits
The coaching change in Baton Rouge shook things up for the LSU Tigers. However, Brian Kelly’s staff has been working hard to turn the momentum in their direction.
It appears as the effort is paying off.
According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, the Tigers are in great shape to land four-star defensive lineman Quency Wiggins of Baton Rouge (La.) Madison Prep Academy.
Wiggins took an official visit this weekend down the road to LSU. That visit, coupled with new predictions from recruiting insiders, have LSU’s chance of landing Wiggins at 96.8%. Florida is at 1.3%, Alabama is at 1% and Texas is now at less than 1%.
The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine was released to the public last week. The On3 engineering group teamed up with Spiny.ai to create the industry’s first algorithm and machine learning-based product to predict where athletes will attend college.
It factors in machine learning, expert predictions, social sentiment, visits, and historical trends. However, expert predictions are still a big piece of the RPM equation.
Wiggins is a must-get recruit for LSU, according to On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons.
“For Brian Kelly to have success at LSU, he has to keep the best at home,” Simmons wrote. “Quency Wiggins is a top 100 prospect in the country and he lives just a few miles from the LSU campus. Kelly needs this one. The opportunity is there for multiple reasons. Early in the fall, Florida was trending, but there have been changes at the Swamp and Florida has faded some. Alabama is in his final three and there has not been a lot of talk about Nick Saban pursuing this one too hard.
“That leaves the door wide open for Kelly and his staff to keep Wiggins home.”
LSU also trending for Jordan Allen
At one point in the recruiting process, On3 Consensus four-star safety Jordan Allen of Lafayette (La.) Lafayette Christian Academy was committed to Penn State. But around two months ago, Allen backed off that commitment.

By opening things back up, it allowed other schools to get involved. The new coaching staff in Baton Rouge took advantage.
Allen was in on an official visit this weekend to Baton Rouge. That visit, along with four picks for LSU, has the Tigers projected to land Allen’s commitment. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine says there’s a 97.1% chance that Allen picks LSU.
Allen is expected to officially announce his decision around 3:30 p.m. ET Wednesday during a ceremony at his school.
Tigers in great shape for Landon Ibieta
The new Tigers staff has also made three-star receiver Landon Ibieta of Mandeville, La., a priority. They offered him last week and had him on campus this weekend for an official visit.
The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine said the offer, visit and several expert predictions are why he’s expected to flip his commitment from Miami to LSU this week.
