Conyers (Ga.) Eagle’s Landing Christian four-star interior offensive lineman DJ Chester announced his top 12 schools in May. One of the programs on that list is currently trending for his commitment.

According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, LSU has an 89.1% chance to land a pledge from Chester. The program with the next-highest odds is Auburn at 4.3%.

Chester was recently in Baton Rouge for an official visit on June 17. He also took an unofficial visit to LSU on April 23. Auburn is the only other program that Chester has taken two visits to.

Chester told On3’s Jeremy Johnson in May that multiple aspects will influence his decision.

“I want to go somewhere that has a family atmosphere,” Chester said. “Somewhere that I can know my mom, my dad and my sisters can just come and have no worries. I’m a big family dude. It’s God and then my family. I want to be at a place where I can grow not only as a football player but as a man. Football is more than just a game. It’s about a mentality too.”

Recruiting impact if Chester commits to LSU

LSU’s recruiting class is currently No. 9 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 3 in the SEC. The group contains 16 total prospects, including 11 four-stars and five three-stars.

If Chester chooses the Tigers, he would be the sixth-highest-ranked recruit in their class. Chester, the No. 118 overall prospect and No. 9 interior offensive lineman in the 2023 On3 Consensus, would also rate as LSU’s sixth top-150 prospect in the 2023 class.

LSU currently has one pledge from an offensive lineman in Buford (Ga.) three-star interior offensive lineman Paul Mubenga.

DJ Chester On3 Scouting Summary

The following is the On3 Scouting Summary for DJ Chester:

“Big-bodied mauler who makes his presence known in the run game by blowing defenders off the ball and finishing them with tenacity. Raw power through his hips and plays with tremendous leverage. Threw an impressive 52-foot-9 in the shot put and 163-foot-3 in the discus during his junior track and field season. Does not possess ideal arm length in order to thrive at tackle in the NFL. Could be a swing tackle in college, but ideal fit is along the interior. One of the youngest offensive linemen in the 2023 recruiting cycle.”
