Paul Finebaum blasts Brian Kelly, LSU for 'embarrassing' home loss to Alabama
Week 11’s matchup between Alabama and LSU was considered a College Football Playoff elimination game, and it was the Tigers would be the ones to fall short against the Crimson Tide.
With three losses on the season, the Tigers appear to be on the outside looking in when in comes to the CFP. Paul Finebaum was firm on his stance about the Tigers when joining SportsCenter on Sunday morning. He said LSU’s “relevancy is over” during a segment called ‘Paul Bearer,’ where Finebaum puts team’s College Football Playoff chances to bed each week.
“Truly one of the more embarrassing performances I have seen from a major contender in a long time,” Finebaum said. “They had everything — how many times did we hear that Brian Kelly hasn’t lost at night in Tiger Stadium? Well, that happened last night.
“They were only down 42-6. I’m sure they had a chance to come back, and they did with 11 seconds to go to make the score, well, it wasn’t really respectable. But it was all about Jalen Milroe. Nobody’s burying him. He is alive and kicking, and so is Alabama’s chances of getting to the playoffs.”

Milroe ran for a career-high 185 yards. After the game, head coach Kalen DeBoer said that he believes this was the “most complete game” that the Crimson Tide have played all season. The win slots the Crimson Tide firmly in the CFP conversation heading into the final stretch of regular season action.
Meanwhile, LSU will have to regroup against Florida on Saturday. There’s still an opportunity for the Tigers to win 10 games if they run the table and win their bowl game. It would be the third time in as many seasons the Tigers would have done so under head coach Brian Kelly.
It’s a tough pill to swallow for LSU, who was one of the hottest teams in the country for a stretch. The Tigers won six games in a row after losing its season opener to USC. Having lost its last two games, the Tigers will have to win the final three games left on their regular season schedule if they want to play in a top, non-CFP bowl game.
