Raising Cane's founder Todd Graves buys 6,000 Jell-O shots for LSU, breaks 40-year-old world record
Before LSU could play their second game at the College World Series, Tiger fans made history. The Rocco’s Jell-O Shot Challenge record had been broken, with previous holder Ole Miss going down. Over 20,000 shots had been bought attached to LSU’s name, with a huge chunk coming from Todd Graves.
Graves, the founder of popular fast food chain Raising Cane’s, graduated from LSU and traveled to Omaha. He decided to buy 6,000 Jell-O shots at Rocco’s, giving the Tigers the record. A Guinness World Record will go home with Graves as well, breaking a 40-year record.
“Records were meant to be broken,” Graves said via Twitter. “6,000 Jello Shots for @LSUBaseball fans @Roccos_Omaha to set the new record! Fun fact: This also breaks the round of shots world record Merle Haggard set in 1983 when he bought 5,095 shots for the entire bar @billybobstexas ! #Geauxmaha“
With the shots being priced at $5, Graves had quite the bill on his hands. However, some of the money will be going to a good cause. Rocco’s does not straight up profit on the Jell-O shots, bought by LSU fans or not. Portions of the money go to charity in each team’s local area. Others in Omaha receive a donation as well.
Graves gets to put money to a good cause while breaking multiple records and enjoying his time at the College World Series with fellow LSU fans. A win-win scenario all around. And the best part is, the challenge is just getting started. The College World Series could go on for another week.

With the Tigers continuing to win on the field as well, Rocco’s is only going to see the LSU number climb even higher.
More on LSU breaking Rocco’s Jell-O shot record
Prior to Ole Miss, in-state rival Mississippi State was the record holder. They too won the national championship and fans decided to party hard at Rocco’s. Maybe there is a trend in here somewhere, as LSU has smoked their competition — at the bar — out of the water.
It’s well known that fans from Baton Rouge travel incredibly well to support their baseball team. They are never shy of having a drink or five either.
“We love any team that comes,” Rocco’s manager Pat McEvoy said when speaking to New Orleans’ FOX 8 about the challenge. “We just know some teams bring the party. Some teams bring ‘Dancing in the Street’ type party, right? And that’s LSU, for sure.”
