Report: LSU quarterback planning to enter transfer portal
LSU Tigers senior quarterback Myles Brennan is planning to enter the NCAA transfer portal, according to reports on Monday of Week 10.
He suffered a compound fracture in his left arm, which is his non-throwing arm, in a freak fishing accident in early August. Despite a rehab timeline provided by Ed Orgeron that indicated Brennan could return to action by Week 10, he’s looking for a new home instead.
Prior to the accident, Brennan was in a battle for starting quarterback with sophomore Max Johnson. He spent most of last season injured as well.
During the third game of the 2020 season against Missouri, the Mississippi native suffered a torn abdomen. The injury was unique enough that doctors told him at the time they had never performed the surgery before.
“He said I’ve never done the surgery on this, so we’d be naming the surgery after you,” Brennan said in a Mar. 18 press conference via LSU’s YouTube channel.
Faced with the option to have this surgery or to heal naturally, Brennan opted not to have the surgery.
Before the 2020 injury, Myles Brennan went 79 of 131 for 11 touchdowns and three interceptions. He racked up 1,712 passing yards over the course of his five-year career at LSU.

Despite signing to LSU in 2017, given his injury history, Brennan should have another year left to play at his new program of choice.
Brennan following Orgeron out of the door at LSU
Despite the news that Ed Orgeron is leaving LSU after the 2021 season, quarterback Myles Brennan is just the second Tiger to reportedly enter the transfer portal this season.
Navonteque Strong, a junior college transfer, entered the portal on Thursday. He played in five games (with two starts) and recorded 17 tackles and a sack this season.
Brennan defended his head coach after he and LSU agreed to part ways. Rumors of all kinds started swirling in regards to Orgeron’s off-the-field antics. A reporter claimed sources revealed that Coach O would occasionally have “girlfriends” at practice. Brennan vehemently denied the report.
