Report: LSU to hire away member of Lincoln Riley’s USC staff
Newly hired LSU Tigers head football coach Brian Kelly continues to put together his coaching squad for the 2022 season. And on Friday, the program announced another hire.
According to Pete Thamel, sources close to the program have said that LSU is hiring USC’s Jamar Cain as the school’s new defensive line coach and running game coordinator.
Cain served as the outside linebackers coach and defensive ends coach for the Oklahoma Sooners in 2020 and 2021. And while he was at the helm of those units, they ranked third and first respectively for the Big 12 conference. Before that, he spent one season in the PAC-12 with the Arizona State Sun Devils. Cain was one of the coaches who would follow former Oklahoma Sooners head coach Lincoln Riley to Los Angeles and join his coaching staff. However, it appears that the LSU Tigers have given him an offer he simply could not pass up.

Davis-Price made the announcement via Twitter, with this letter directed to Tiger nation.
The Tiger’s junior running back leads the team in rushing this season with 1,003 yards on the ground on 211 attempts. That is good enough for an average of 4.8 yards per carry and also rushed for six touchdowns.
He leaves LSU with the program’s record for most rushing yards in a single game. Davis-Price set that mark in a 49-42 win over the Florida Gators, midway through the season. He finished the game, with 287 yards rushing complemented by three rushing touchdowns on the day. That performance will cement him in Tiger lore for years to come.
Davis-Price will also leave LSU as a national champion as he was a contributor to their 2019 run as a freshman. That season he had 295 yards on 64 attempts and finished with six rushing touchdowns.
