Following a defensive debacle against Ole Miss that cost LSU the game, the Tigers are adding some reinforcements to their staff by hiring former defensive line coach Pete Jenkins.

Jenkins, 82, has not coached since 2017, when he was at LSU on Les Miles‘ staff.

He will reportedly join the Tigers, according to a report from WGNO’s Ed Daniels, though what position he will fill exactly was not specified.

Jenkins has a wealth of experience coaching on the defensive line, with 49 years of coaching experience at the college level, almost all on the defensive line. He has worked at Auburn, Florida, LSU and Mississippi State in the SEC.

In his previous stints with the Tigers, the team won three SEC titles and made nine bowl appearances.
