Richmond transfer Dji Bailey commits to LSU
Dji Bailey has committed out of the transfer portal to LSU.
Bailey just completed his senior season at Richmond after four years with the Spiders. Now, he will be callin’ Baton Rouge after committing to Matt McMahon and the Tigers.
Per On3’s Jamie Shaw, Bailey “reportedly had a good number of suitors throughout the process” while in the portal. On April 30th, though, he ultimately placed an RPM Prediction, one that has since come true with this news, for Bailey to choose LSU.
Bailey has appeared in 78 games in college while at Richmond, including 53 the past two seasons with 31 starts. In that time, he averaged 5.7 points, 2.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and a steal while shooting 56.4% from the field.
In ’23-’24, Bailey had a career campaign. He posted 10.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.7 steals, all of which were career-highs, while shooting 59.4% overall. He was top-five on the roster in all those categories, including leading the Spiders in steals and field-goal percentage, for a team that went 23-10, which was one of the best record out of the A-10 and tied them with Loyola-Chicago for the best conference record this year.
Bailey, a native of Wilson, North Carolina, played high school basketball at Greenfield School. He committed to Richmond as a member of the 2020 recruiting cycle.

Per On3’s 2024 Transfer Portal Top Players, Bailey is the No. 258 overall transfer. In those same ratings, he was also the No. 46 SG in the portal.
Bailey is the only player to leave or join the Spiders’ program through the portal to this point of the offseason.
Now, Bailey is the third player to join the Tigers by transfer. Cam Carter (Kansas State) and Jordan Sears (UT-Martin) had both already committed to LSU earlier in the portal cycle. Carter was a leading contributor for the Wildcats at K-State this last season as a junior while Sears was a Top-10 scorer in the nation at 21.6 points per game as a junior for the Skyhawks.
As for departures, two other players have left the Tigers as of now. Carlos Stewart (Santa Clara) and Mwani Wilkinson had both entered the portal earlier on this offseason.
