Running back Kevontre Bradford has been “separated from the University” and is “no longer on the roster” per LSU head coach Brian Kelly via Jacques Doucet. Bradford began his college football career with LSU before transferring to Oklahoma. Then, he decided to re-enter the transfer portal and come back to LSU. Earlier in the 2021 season, the Tigers were waiting on Bradford to be declared eligible to play. He ended up playing in one game in 2021–rushing two times for 11 yards.

His dismissal is unfortunate news for the LSU program, as On3’s Jesse Simonton wrote that Bradford was looking good in the spring in his “Post-spring stock report”. The news of his dismissal was passed along by Brian Kelly following the Tigers’ first practice of fall camp on Thursday. He added that there were laws that prevented him from commenting any further on the situation, per Brody Miller of The Athletic.

Bradford was arrested for shoplifting on Dec. 22, 2020. WBRZ reported that he later characterized the incident as a “misunderstanding”.

He dealt with a hamstring injury last season. As a freshman with the LSU Tigers, he rushed 10 times for 58 yards, adding a touchdown and a reception in five games of action. According to the On3 Consensus Rankings, he was rated as the No. 18 running back in America for the 2020 recruiting cycle. In the state of Texas, he was rated as the No. 24 prospect in the state.

Coming out of high school, Bradford chose LSU over offers from Texas, Oklahoma State, Wisconsin, Arkansas, Baylor, Kansas State, Texas Tech, USC, Ohio State, and others.

LSU’s running backs for the 2022 season are now: John Emery, Jr., Armoni Goodwin, and Noah Cain. Tyrion Davis-Price was selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Last season, Davis-Price rushed 211 times for 1,003 yards on the ground and tacked on six rushing touchdowns.
