Sam Pittman sends well wishes to LSU amid Greg Brooks emergency
LSU safety Greg Brooks will miss the weekend’s game versus Arkansas, his old school, after Tigers head coach Brian Kelly announced Brooks is dealing with a medical emergency. Razorbacks head coach Sam Pittman expressed his well wishes to Brooks after he was alerted about the news.
“I want to start out taking about Greg Brooks,” Pittman said to start off his Monday press conference. “I’m not positive what is going on with him. They talked about a medical emergency. Now Greg was a wonderful kid when he was here and did a great job for us and whatever it may be. I want him and his family and LSU to know that we’re concerned, we’re praying for him and and we hope that he has, whatever it may be, a speedy speedy recovery. I wish I knew more about it, but I don’t. But I do know a medical emergency means there’s something wrong and our thoughts and prayers are with him and the LSU football team and community.”
Kelly said Monday he couldn’t give too much information on what Brooks is dealing with but when he is given the opportunity and permission, he would do so.
“Greg Brooks is out,” Kelly said. “I don’t have a lot that I can report on Greg. It is a family matter so I’m not going to speak on the family’s behalf, if there’s anything that I can get to you further after I speak with the family, we’ll certainly give you information. But Greg is dealing with a medical emergency and he will not be available.”
Brooks played the first three seasons of his college career with Arkansas before entering the transfer portal after 2021 season. He transferred to LSU, where he is currently in his second season with the program.

He is a five-year college starter, starting 45 of his 50 career games over his time with both the Razorbacks and the Tigers. The 5-foot-10 safety has also improved his stats and skills every single year as well.
Last year for LSU, Brooks had a career-high 66 tackles, five passes defended and two interceptions.
The Tigers are entering the game coming off a beatdown of Mississippi State that saw Jayden Daniels light up the field through the air and on the ground. Kelly had high praise for the team leader, who transferred in the same offseason as Brooks.
“We’ve seen incredible development at the position, and I think that’s what’s more exciting than where we would be without Daniels,” Kelly said. It’s fun to watch the development of a quarterback in that respect.”
