Some good news has arrived after LSU cornerback Sevyn Banks had to be taken to the hospital with a scary injury the first half of Saturday’s game against Auburn. LSU tweeted out an update on Banks’ status, saying he was cleared to leave the hospital and will rejoin his team at the stadium.

“Sevyn Banks was taken to a local hospital following an injury on the first play of tonight’s game,” the tweet read. “After a series of tests, he was alert and mobile. He has been cleared to leave the hospital and will return to the stadium under the care of team doctors.”

Banks went to make a tackle and his head collided with Auburn kick returner, leaving him motionless after the hit. The officials also threw a flag for targeting and confirmed the penalty after a review, resulting in a 15-yard penalty and boos from the fans in the stands. Banks was responsive after the play and is now being taken to a hospital the next town over from Auburn, according to ESPN announcer Joe Tessitore on the broadcast.

“He was responsive, he was speaking to the medical staff that was attending to him and that he is going to be brought to East Alabama Medical Center,” Tessitore said. “It’s in Opelika, Alabama. That is the next town over from where we are at Auburn at Jordan-Hare Stadium. He will be taken care of there.”
