Texas A&M TE transfer Donovan Green commits to LSU
Former Texas A&M tight end Donovan Green has committed to LSU out of the NCAA transfer portal, per On3’s Hayes Fawcett.
Green has two years of eligbility to play for Brian Kelly and the Tigers. He originally entered the portal on Dec. 30.
Injuries have kept Green off the field for much of his collegiate career, playing in just two games over the last two seasons for the Aggies. He was forced to miss the entire 2023 season after tearing his ACL.
In 2022, he caught 22 passes for 233 yards and two touchdowns before the injury bug caught up to him.
During that season, he suited up against LSU. Texas A&M defeated the Tigers 38-23 during that game, where Green played a pivotal role in the victory. He caught two passes for 13 yards and scored one of the two (and most recent) touchdowns he’s caught so far in his career.

In 2024, LSU found itself ranked as high as No. 8 in the AP Top 25 poll before ending the season unranked. Still, they made the most out of the end of their season and finished the year 9-4 with a 44-31 victory over Baylor in the Kinder’s Texas Bowl. They’ll have their eyes set for a potential College Football Playoff run in 2025.
Coming out of high school, Green was a highly-touted four-star recruit in the 2022 recruiting class, according to the On3 Industry Rankings, which is a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services. He was the No. 153 overall player in his cycle, as well as the No. 6 overall tight end.
The portal officially opened on Monday, Dec. 9, 2024. More than 2,800 FBS scholarship players entered their names into the NCAA’s transfer database during the 2023-24 school year. Removing those who withdrew or went pro, the final total sat at 2,707 transfers.
That means roughly 25 percent of all FBS scholarship players hit free agency in one year, per On3’s Pete Nakos. It remains to be seen how those numbers stack up during the 2024-25 school year.
