WATCH: LSU releases hype video ahead of season-opener
LSU will kick off its season on Saturday, as the Tigers travel to the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, California, to face the UCLA Bruins.
It is the first time the two programs have met in their storied histories. While UCLA is coming off a dominating, 44-10 victory over Hawaii. LSU has not yet played its season opener — however, the Tigers, ranked No. 16 in the preseason AP Poll, might have something to prove on Saturday.
Ahead of one of this weekend’s most highly-anticipated matchups, LSU released a hype video narrated by Los Angeles Rams: offensive tackle Andrew Whitworth.
This should get Tiger fans ready for Saturday.
Although UCLA will be the home team, LSU fans are more than ready to make their presence known in Pasadena. In fact, the visiting Tigers might be playing in more of a neutral-game environment than a road game, as Sports Illustrated’s Ross Dellenger reported that LSU had completely sold out its ticket allotment ahead of the contest.

“LSU sold its allotment to the UCLA game within a matter of days, requested more and sold those,” Dellenger tweeted. “I believe at least 10,000 tickets have been sold through the school. Officials in Baton Rouge expect the amount of LSU fans here to top 15,000.”
The Tigers have been preparing for UCLA for weeks, and former four-star quarterback Max Johnson will be starting his first-career season opener. Johnson, a sophomore from Athens, Georgia, started two games last season and appeared in nine. He completed 88 of 150 pass attempts for 1,069 yards, 8 touchdowns and only one interception last year, while contributing an additional 119 rushing yards and a pair of rushing touchdowns.
“I’m excited about it,” Johnson said of the matchup in a press conference. “I think just putting all our focus towards UCLA is going to be big for us. It was a good getting to compete with our defense. I think we’re all just looking forward to going over to UCLA and looking forward to this upcoming game.”
