Leading into Tuesday’s game against Arkansas, the LSU injury report showed Vyctorius Miller was ruled out. It’s the first game the true freshman guard has missed this season. Thankfully, the Tigers were able to pull through without Miller but would still like him moving forward.

Postgame, LSU head coach Matt McMahon gave a status update on Miller and provided exactly what the issue is. Miller is “day to day” for now after injuring his ankle on Saturday against Ole Miss. All things considered, positive news as it does not appear to be too serious.

“Just day to day with an ankle from the game on Saturday,” Miller said.

Miller played high school basketball at North Hollywood (CA) Compass Prep, where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 56 overall recruit in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Originally, Oregon was the team to secure Miller’s commitment coming out of high school. Other West Coast programs like Gonzaga and USC were involved alongside LSU. But Miller eventually decommitted from the Ducks and decided to sign with McMahon in Baton Rouge.

“Vyctorius Miller has a basketball frame, with long arms and broad shoulders,” On3’s Jamie Shaw said in Miller’s scouting report. “He should continue to put on weight as he matures and gets into an advanced strength and conditioning program. Miller is comfortable on or off the ball. He can run a team and get his guys into sets and play efficiently. He can also be a dangerous scorer, capable of heating up quickly. Miller has a quick first step and is decisive in getting downhill.

“He is a good athlete and plays with good balance. Miller is a smooth shooter with deep range and confidence. Adding strength should help him find consistency. There is an upside on the defensive end when he locks in. Is dad is Vyshonn Miller (Silkk the Shocker), and his uncle is Percy Miller (Master P).”

Thus far, results have been good. Miller is LSU’s fourth leading scorer on the year, averaging 10.1 points per game on 48.7% shooting. Getting him back on the court would be a big boost to the Tigers’ offensive output.

Saturday will see McMahon’s team head on the road, facing Texas A&M. Another big win can be acquired as LSU attempts to claw back in the SEC. Miller and his health will be a storyline heading into the game.
