Will Wade incredibly late to press conference following third straight loss
Reporters waited for more than an hour following LSU’s loss to Vanderbilt for Will Wade to show up to his postgame press conference. When he finally did, the Tigers coach apologized for the delay.
LSU dropped its third straight game Saturday, falling 75-66 to the Commodores on the road. The Tigers rallied from 21 points down in the second half to cut the deficit to just five, but it was ultimately too big to overcome.
Vanderbilt used a dagger 3-pointer from Rodney Chatman to put the nail in the coffin late in the game. Chatman finished the contest with 24 points to lead all scorers.
Wade’s team has now dropped six of its past seven games after starting the season at 15-1. LSU entered the weekend ranked No. 25 in the AP poll, but will likely fall out following its latest loss. They are still currently projected to make to NCAA Tournament, but trending in the wrong direction.
The 75 points the Tigers surrendered to Vanderbilt were the second most this season. They have given up at least 70 points in five of their past six games. LSU shot just 1-for-8 from deep in the first half, heading into the locker room down 18.

Wade is in his fifth season in Baton Rouge after stops at Chattanooga and VCU. He has never had a losing season in his coaching career, compiling a 193-93 overall record over nine years. Wade helped to lead them to an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2021, where they lost to one-seed Michigan in the second round.
The Tigers are still an NCAA Tournament team as of now, as they were projected as a six seed in On3’s Feb. 1 bracketology projections. However, they are certainly in danger of slipping if they can’t get things figured out quickly.
LSU will hope to get back on track against Texas A&M at 7 p.m. ET Tuesday. The Aggies are actually the last team the Tigers beat, with a 70-64 victory in the Jan. 26 meeting. Hopefully Will Wade can avoid another loss and have a much happier press conference in that one.
