Newport News (Va.) Warwick four-star athlete Messiah Delhomme has committed to Maryland, he announced on Saturday evening.

He chose the Terrapins over Virginia Tech, Ohio State, Virginia, Alabama and Syracuse.

Delhomme is the No. 188 overall prospect and No. 7 athlete in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 5 player in Virginia.

It’s another major recruiting victory for head coach Mike Locksley and the Terps. Delhomme is the second blue-chipper out of Virginia to pledge to Maryland this month, following Virginia Beach (Va.) Salem four-star interior offensive lineman Jaylen Gilchrist, who pledged on Aug. 3.

The 6-foot-1, 200-pound Delhomme has excelled as a receiver and defensive back for Warwick High — the alma mater of former Virginia Tech standout and NFL quarterback Michael Vick.

Terps continue to build impressive recruiting class

Make it six blue-chip commits for Maryland this cycle. Delhomme and Gilchrist are now the two highest-ranked members of the Terps’ 2025 class — which ranks No. 31 in the nation and No. 10 in the Big Ten, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.
