2024 4-star LB Kris Jones sets Maryland visit

Stafford (Va.) Mountain View four-star linebacker Kris Jones will be visiting Maryland this weekend. He announced the news over social media.

Jones is the No. 112 overall prospect and No. 13 linebacker in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 1 player in Virginia.

On3 rates Jones higher than other recruiting services, according to the Industry Comparison. Per the 2024 On300, he is the No. 110 overall prospect and No. 10 linebacker in the country.

The 6-foot-2, 215-pound defender holds 27 offers. According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, Penn State is leading for his commitment at 24.7%.

RPM was released to the public in December. The On3 engineering group teamed up with Spiny.ai to create the industry’s first algorithm and machine learning-based product to predict where athletes will attend college. 

It factors in machine learning, social sentiment, visits and historical trends. However, expert predictions are still a big piece of the RPM equation.

Jones told On3’s Chad Simmons that the Terrapins’ proximity to his home is a plus. Additionally, he has a good relationship with Maryland inside linebackers coach Lance Thompson.

The Terrapins have one commitment in their 2024 recruiting class. Munich (Germany) three-star linebacker Justin Okoronkwo chose head coach Mike Locksley and his staff on Nov. 29.

Jones has an On3 NIL Valuation of $12.3K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
