Memphis' PJ Haggerty enters the NCAA Transfer Portal

Memphis’ PJ Haggerty was one of the leading scorers in all of college basketball this season. Now, he’ll capitalize on that by making himself available in the portal.
Haggerty will enter his name into the NCAA Transfer Portal, On3 has learned. That reporting comes per On3’s Jamie Shaw.
Haggerty has been at three programs in three years as a freshman at TCU, a redshirt freshman at Tulsa, and then a redshirt sophomore this season at Memphis. In that span, Haggerty has averaged 19.9 points (48.4% FG, 33.2% 3PT), 5.3 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.8 steals with most of that being for the Hurricane and the Tigers.
In ’24-’25, though, Haggerty fully broke out with Memphis. He posted 21.7 points (47.6% FG, 36.4% 3PT), 5.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.8 steals. That had him as the leader in scoring, assists, and steals for the Tigers while having the third-leading scoring averaging in all of college ‘hoops behind only Eric Dixon (Villanova – 23.0) and Trenton McLaughlin (Northern Arizona – 22.1) and the second-most total points scored this season behind only Jacksonville State’s Jaron Pierre Jr.. That also won him AAC Player of the Year and earned him spots on the All-AAC First Team as well as the Second Team for Consensus All-American.
With that, Memphis, led by Haggerty, went 29-6 overall for one of their better records in school history and best under Penny Hardaway. They went on to win the regular season in the American, won the AAC Tournament, in which Haggerty was MVP of and on the All-Tournament Team, and made the NCAA Tournament as a No. 5 seed.

Haggerty, a Crosby, Texas, native, was the 150th overall recruit as a three-star in the 2022 cycle. He also rated as a Top-25 combo guard and a Top-15 player out of the state. That’s according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Only one player in the entire country scored more total points in this season than Haggerty. A fourth team will now be getting that kind of scorer in the portal following his entry today.
