4-star TE Luka Gilbert commits to Miami: 'It really feels like family'
Cincinnati Lakota West four-star tight end Luka Gilbert has committed to Miami, he announced on Monday evening.
The Hurricanes beat some big-time programs for the rising blue-chipper, including Ohio State, Kentucky, Michigan and others.
“I’d say it’s a combination of everything,” Gilbert told On3 of his decision. “Coach Cristobal and Coach Woodiel have shown me what they can do to help me develop and get to the NFL. Also, the team is truly a brotherhood like no other which I love.”
Gilbert is the No. 246 overall prospect and No. 14 TE in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 10 player in Ohio.

The 6-foot-7, 225-pounder was in Coral Gables at the end of March and has locked in a June official visit as well. Despite residing in Big Ten country, Gilbert is opting for life in the 305 with Mario Cristobal, TEs coach Cody Woodiel and the Canes.
“It really feels like family,” he said. “The rosters they are building are impressive, and I’m glad to be a part of it. WE ARE COMING FOR THE NATTY.”
