4-star WR Waden Charles decommits from Miami
Boynton Beach (Fla.) Palm Beach Central four-star wide receiver Waden Charles has decommitted from Miami, per On3’s Hayes Fawcett.
Charles had been a member of the Hurricanes’ class since he pledged to Miami on September 10.
He is the nation’s No. 333 overall prospect, No. 52 wide receiver and No. 47 recruit from Florida in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Charles joined ‘The Five Star Flex’ earlier this month to sit down with On3’s Phillip Dukes and update his recruitment. Besides Miami, in-state programs Florida and Florida State were also catching his eye.
“It’s also a great school, just like Miami,” Charles said of FSU. “They have a great culture as well, they have a great coaching staff over there, they have a great pipeline to the NFL Draft, too. They produce a lot of people going to the draft.”
Producing talent at the receiver position and getting players to the next level is a point of emphasis for Charles. Billy Napier and the Gators recently provided another example of succeeding in that realm with former WR Ricky Pearsall going in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

“Home-state school, definitely a great school, Coach Billy Napier is a great coach, bringing in a lot of young guys, make impacts. Coach Billy Gonzales is a great receivers coach, he definitely produced a great receiver that was in the draft this year — Ricky Pearsall…that’s something about Florida I like,” Charles said.
Strong ties at UCF
Charles has built a relationship with the staff at UCF and has also locked in a June official visit.
“I like that school a lot, cause they have a great coaching staff, a lot of young players that come in and make an instant impact,” Charles said. “The stuff that they’ve done in the receiving room last year, the receivers they have in the draft, so I feel like if I ever go there I’ll be able to do the same thing, even better.”
Another angle that plays in favor of UCF is four-star safety commit Tony Williams, Charles’ teammate at Palm Beach Central. Williams is in the ear of Charles, playing the role of recruiter for the Knights.
“Tony, he talks to be every day about coming to UCF. He just tries to show me the same vision that he sees, and I’m starting to see it, definitely. Tony, he’s definitely on me hard about coming to play for UCF,” Charles said.
