5-star offensive tackle Francis Mauigoa commits to Miami
The nation’s No. 2 offensive tackle is officially off the board. Five-star Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy mauler Francis Mauigoa has committed to Miami, he announced Monday afternoon.
The Hurricanes beat out Tennessee, USC, Alabama and Florida for the No. 10 recruit in the On3 Consensus.
Head coach Mario Cristobal and offensive line coach Alex Mirabal have a longstanding relationship with Mauigoa going back to when they were at Oregon. And that only grew when they came to Coral Gables.
“I’ve been talking to this coaching staff for like a while, way back, since they were at Oregon,” Mauigoa told On3’s Chad Simmons last month. “We have like a strong bond right now with Miami.”

His decision is the latest in a string of good news for the Hurricanes, who have now landed five prospects ranked inside the top 150 of the On3 Consensus in the past eight days. Mauigoa joins four-star Pittsburg (Calif.) QB Jaden Rashada, top-65 tight end Riley Williams, speedy wideout Nathaniel Joseph and four-star cornerback Robert Stafford among the ‘Canes blue-chip recruits.
Francis Mauigoa Scouting Summary
“Wide-bodied, nimble mover who is excelling in his first season as a full-time offensive lineman. Works at right tackle for IMG, but likely projects on the interior due to his arm length and build. Played very well against a national schedule and some top pass rushers as a junior. Uses his natural strength to create a big push in the run game. Plays with a wide base and has considerable pop in his hands. Has mauling qualities as a drive blocker and is athletic enough to get to the second level with ease. Though he doesn’t project as an offensive tackle long-term, showed some very encouraging skills in pass protection.” — Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings
