Albany Great Danes quarterback Reese Poffenbarger has committed to transfer to the Miami Hurricanes, per On3’s Pete Nakos.

Poffenbarger began his college career at Old Dominion. He spent one season there, redshirting, before transferring to Albany where he put up massive numbers. In 2022, he was the CAA Offensive Rookie of the Year before he led the Great Danes to the FCS playoffs in 2023. During the 2023 season, he led the FCS with 36 passing touchdowns and 3,603 yards passing.

Over the course of his two seasons with Albany, Poffenbarger threw for 6,613 yards and 60 touchdowns to only 17 interceptions. He also had eight rushing touchdowns.

Reese Poffenbarger played high school football at Middletown (MD), where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 1,685 overall recruit in the 2020 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Poffenbarger has two years of eligibility remaining. He’ll hope to compete for the starting job with Miami next season.
