Arizona DB Emmanuel Karnley commits to transfer to Miami
Arizona Wildcats DB Emmanuel Karnley has committed to transfer to the Miami Hurricanes. On3’s Hayes Fawcett reported his commitment to The ‘U on Thursday.
This commitment comes a few weeks after Karnley visited Miami. It appears he liked what he saw while on his visit with the Hurricanes.
After playing his high school football at Pittsburg in California, Karnley became a three-star recruit in the Class of 2023. He was the 81st-ranked cornerback and the 824th-ranked player overall in that recruiting cycle. While in high school, Karnley also played wide receiver.
Coming out of high school, Karnley chose to go to Arizona ahead of USC and Washington among other schools. Karnley originally went to play for Jedd Fisch at Arizona, taking a redshirt during the 2023 season. However, following that season, Fisch left for Washington and was replaced by Brent Brennan. It was under Brennan that Karnley played last season before deciding to transfer to find a new program.
The 2024 one was a frustrating season for the Wildcats. After moving to the Big 12, they went just 4-8 overall and 2-7 in conference play. On defense, Arizona was 109th in scoring defense and 103rd in passing defense in 2024.

Still, Karnley flashed his talent as just a redshirt freshman. He had 16 total tackles on the season and was able to break up five passes for the year.
The transfer portal opened on December 9th. That’s one of two transfer portal windows that will be open for players to enter the portal this offseason. The other comes following spring practice. The transfer portal may also open for individual teams when a head coach leaves for one reason or another.
