Blake Cyr goes deep to give Miami an early lead over Louisiana
Miami second baseman Blake Cyr opened the scoring in Sunday’s elimination game versus Louisiana with a three-run bomb in the top of the first inning.
After the Ragin’ Caguns got the first out of the inning, Hurricanes Edgardo Villegas was hit by a pitch and then third baseman Yohandy Morales singled, setting up Cyr to send the 1-1 pitch from Blake Marshall well over the left-center fence.
It was the 17th home run of the year for Cyr, who was named to the All-ACC third team and All-ACC freshman team.
Miami, the No. 1 seed in the regional and ninth overall seed won its first game of the Coral Gables Regional before losing to Texas on Saturday. Louisiana lost to the Longhorns on Friday before defeating Maine in an elimination game Saturday.

“I’ve taken something honestly from everybody on the team even like some pictures, you have all these different kind of hitters and you can just pick them apart just watching them and kind of create your own thing,” Cyr said ahead of the Regionals. “We have a plan for each game, each team that we play.”
Yohandy Morales later hits two home runs in the game
Blake Cyr’s fellow infielder Yohandy Morales later joined Cyr in the home run department with two homers of his own during the game.
The first one came in the seventh inning and the second one came in the ninth inning.
Morales also hit a home run earlier in the weekend.
