Miami quarterback Cam Ward has had an incredible season with the Hurricanes. The Heisman finalist isn’t done playing at Miami just yet.

Ward was asked on SportsCenter Saturday morning if he plans to play in the Pop-Tarts Bowl against Iowa State on Dec. 28. He revealed that he is absolutely playing in the game.

“Yes sir, I’m playing in the game. Our team, we’re ready,” Cam Ward said. “We’ve been preparing this whole week. We had time to chill and relax our bodies. But every day we’re getting more into the game plan for Iowa State.

“They’re a very good team. They’re a 10-win team. So we’re going to have our hands full with them. But it’s an exciting game to go out in your college career and try to win your last game.”

It is becoming common practice for star players to opt out of bowl games, but Cam Ward made it clear that he is not interested in doing that. Instead, he will be with his Hurricanes teammates and look to finish his college career on a high note.

Ward enters bowl season having thrown for 4,123 yards and 36 touchdowns, with 7 interceptions. He’s also rushed for 196 yards and four scores.

Cam Ward and the Hurricanes were in College Football Playoff contention until the end, before ultimately coming up just short. It’s clear that Ward is frustrated Miami isn’t in the CFP.

“I’m really over it at this point. Can’t go back in the past and control anything,” Cam Ward said. “I mean, at the end of the day, they left out the best quarterback in the country. They left out the best offense in the country.

“So they’re going to do what they’ve got to do. All I know is we’ve got a team to go play in the next couple of weeks, a very good football team. So my mind’s focused on that.”

Ward and the Hurricanes offense will have one more opportunity to show just how good it is in two weeks against Iowa State.
