Miami quarterback Cam Ward has big goals for his senior season of college football. The Washington State transfer is a part of a loaded Hurricanes roster that is hoping to bring Miami its first ever ACC title in 2024.

Ward spoke at the ACC Kickoff event recently about what it would mean to him to bring Miami an ACC Championship.

“It would mean a lot to me, especially because of how bad I want to win,” Cam Ward said. “I haven’t won anything tremendous at the Power 5 level. That’s something I really want to do is win a championship.”

Ward started his college career at Incarnate Word, before transferring to Washington State. He had impressive individual stats in 2022 and 2023, but the Cougars won only 12 games total.

He is hopeful that individual success and team success will go hand in hand during his time at Miami.

“If we win an ACC Championship, I think that would take care of a lot of the individual awards that we want,” Cam Ward said. “The more we win games the more everybody will get blessed.”

Miami has a tough opener to start the year as the Hurricanes will play at Florida. The ACC opener for Miami will take place on Friday, Sept. 27 against Virginia Tech.

Cam Ward explains decision to pass on NFL Draft, transfer to Miami

One of the biggest storylines of the early offseason was transfer quarterback Cam Ward‘s decision to either commit to a school out of the NCAA transfer portal or keep his name in the NFL Draft.

He ultimately chose to stay in college and opted to transfer to Miami for his final season of college football. The presumed ‘Canes QB1 recently opened up on the thought process that led him to withdraw from the NFL Draft cycle and choose to land in Coral Gables.

“A lot went into that decision,” Ward said at ACC Media Days. “That’s probably one of the most stressful times in my life. Me, my mom, my dad. Every day my decision changed. Went into my parents’ room. I told them one day I was going to this school. Next day I was going to the league, next day I was going to Miami. If I had to do it all over again, I would.

“The biggest thing for me is there was still food left on the table for me. I accomplished a lot of things at the FCS level, I haven’t accomplished things I know I’m capable of at the Power Five level. I feel like NFL isn’t going anywhere. God put me in this position to be a Miami Hurricane. I think it’s been the best of both worlds.”
