Coveted 4-star safety Joenel Aguero locks in Miami official visit
Danvers (Mass.) St. John’s Prep four-star safety Joenel Aguero has set an official visit to Miami, he announced Tuesday afternoon.
The trip will be his third to “The U” since last June; he also made an unofficial visit in mid-April to see the Hurricanes.
Miami has long been a program Aguero has been interested in. But the ‘Canes made a big move this spring by hiring former Georgia defensive backs coach Jahmile Addae, who had been recruiting him in Athens.
“Miami has always been one of my top schools to be honest,” he told On3’s Sam Spiegelman in March. “We’ve been tapped in and what Coach (Mario) Cristobal did at Oregon, I feel good that he’s gonna build Miami back up to where it was. Coach Addae was recruiting me at Georgia and we already had that relationship. Now that he’s at a place he wanted to be, I think he’s gonna be good over there.”
Georgia still trending for Joenel Aguero
Despite the coaching changes, it’s the Bulldogs who are currently the heavy favorites for Aguero, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. It gives Kirby Smart and Co. a 93.2 percent chance of securing his commitment.

RPM was released to the public in December. The On3 engineering group teamed up with Spiny.ai to create the industry’s first algorithm and machine learning-based product to predict where athletes will attend college.
It factors in machine learning, expert predictions, social sentiment, visits, and historical trends. However, expert predictions are still a big piece of the RPM equation.
The On3 Consensus — a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies — has Aguero as the No. 34 overall recruit and No. 4 safety in the 2023 cycle.
