Report: Concerning details emerge surrounding arrest of Miami linebacker
More details are coming out about the situation involving Miami linebacker Deshawn Troutman.
Troutman was arrested shortly after a spring practice session and is accused of punching his girlfriend “all over her body.” However, FOX Sports’ Andy Slater reported Monday that Troutman’s girlfriend was also arrested. He said police found scratches on Troutman and they were allegedly cause by his girlfriend’s fists and hands.
Troutman is currently suspended indefinitely from all team activities as the situation continues to develop. He’s getting ready for his sophomore season after spending most of last year on special teams.
“We are aware that University of Miami football student-athlete Deshawn Troutman was arrested by the Miami-Dade Police Department on March 22,” the University of Miami said in a statement to Slater last week.

A senior law enforcement official also told Slater that the punches included shots to the head of the woman. At this time, no additional details about Troutman’s legal status are known.
The school said he has been immediately suspended for an indefinite period from all team activities.
“We are aware that University of Miami football student-athlete Deshawn Troutman was arrested by the Miami-Dade Police Department on March 22,” the University of Miami said in a statement to Slater.
Deshawn Troutman appeared in eight games for Miami in his freshman season, primarily working on special teams and as a member of the practice squad. The former three-star recruit came to Miami as the No. 646 ranked player in the 2021 class. An Orlando native, he chose UM over offers from Florida State, Louisville and others.
