Ed Orgeron continued his offseason tour of college football programs Saturday. He was seen at Miami during a football camp.

Sports Illustrated’s John Garcia Jr. caught Orgeron on video, in a Miami t-shirt, helping out at a camp. It’s the second school Orgeron has visited this offseason after meeting up with Marcus Freeman and Co. at Notre Dame in April.

Orgeron isn’t coaching this year after LSU decided to move on from him following the 2021 season. With the Tigers, he won the national championship in 2019 before back-to-back .500 seasons. Overall, he had a 51-20 record in Baton Rouge, including a 31-17 record in SEC play, over six seasons.

As for Miami, it’s getting ready for the first year of the Mario Cristobal era after hiring him away from Oregon to replace Manny Diaz. The Hurricanes got some more star power onto the staff with him as former Michigan offensive coordinator Josh Gattis and former Auburn defensive coordinator Kevin Steele are also on board in those respective roles.

Why Ed Orgeron went to Notre Dame in April

Notre Dame had a surprise visitor at practice a couple months ago when former LSU coach Ed Orgeron showed up. Afterward, he met the media and shared why he made the trip to South Bend.

Orgeron visited with his three sons, who are getting into coaching. He wanted to show them campus and he has an existing relationship with Fighting Irish coach Marcus Freeman. As it turns out, Orgeron wanted to give Freeman a job during his time at LSU.

“I interviewed Marcus at LSU,” Orgeron said. “Really, really respect him. I wanted to come up here, I’ve got three sons coaching. I wanted to show them what Notre Dame was and … this is the first time I get to come in and enjoy being around campus.

“And I’ll tell you what, going into that stadium and having the battles and having great memories. Yesterday, we drove up to the stadium, we went to go see their locker room to the right. I’m used to going to the left. But I enjoy being here. I wanted to see Marcus and the staff, bring my sons up here. We’re here all week. We’re just going to have a good time. Fun to be up here.”
