Deerfield Beach (Fla.) four-star linebacker Elias Rudolph has flipped his commitment from Michigan to Miami.

He previously committed to the Wolverines on July 3.

Rudolph is the No. 303 overall prospect and No. 25 EDGE in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 42 player in Florida.

He becomes the 20th commitment this class for Miami, which came into the day ranked No. 19 in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. Rudolph also marks the sixth pledge for the Hurricanes since July 1, joining elite four-star wide receiver Joshisa Trader, four-star EDGE Marquise Lightfoot, in-state defensive lineman Artavious Jones, and more.

The Hurricanes offered Rudolph in May, coming a bit late to the party after he transferred to Deerfield Beach. He then took an official visit with the Hurricanes in mid-June, which followed visits to Michigan and Pittsburgh earlier in the month.

“They jumped late into the party,” Rudolph told CaneSport before his visit to Coral Gables. “I feel like I can really give them a chance, see what they can offer to bring to the table. It’s a great program. I was looking at the Florida schools, so I want to see what Miami’s doing.”

Hurricanes’ efforts have continued since then

Miami’s staff pursued heavily, texting the 6-foot-3, 200-pound linebacker daily and putting him in direct contact with co-defensive line coach Jason Taylor, who is recruiting him at the JACK position, a hybrid linebacker and EDGE position.

They were able to get him back on campus at the end of July as well for the recruiting barbecue and pool party hosted by Mario Cristobal. That visit apparently paid dividends, as the ‘Canes have now locked in second EDGE commit this cycle and fourth pledge along the defensive line.
