Former Jacksonville State DB Zechariah Poyser commits, signs with Miami

Former Jacksonville State defensive back Zechariah Poyser committed and signed with Miami out of the transfer portal, according to On3’s Pete Nakos.

Poyser, listed at 6-foot-2 and 190 pounds and entered the transfer portal last week. He finished the 2024 season with 47 solo tackles, 3 interceptions and 8 tackles for loss. He was the CUSA Defensive Player of the Week after recording two interceptions in a game against Kennesaw State.

As a member of the Class of 2023, Poyser was not ranked, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He played his high school football in Wildwood (Fla.) at Wildwood High.
