Haley Cavinder chooses New York billboard as an NIL moment she will always remember
On3’s Andy Staples is known for his expertise in college football. However, that is not the only topic he is sharp and sound on. Recently, Staples took his talents to South Beach and had a sit-down interview with two stars for the Miami Hurricanes on the hardwood — sisters Haley and Hanna Cavinder.
During his interview with the two Hurricanes stars, Staples pointed a question directly at Haley and her experience with NIL. To be precise, the host of the Andy Staples On3 podcasts was curious to know what is the biggest moment courtesy of NIL that she will always remember.
“That is such a loaded and hard question. I think, like Hanna said, our lives have changed so much due to NIL,” Haley Cavinder opened. “So, the people I’ve met in the places I’ve been because of NIL have been just insane. I would say one moment that I’ll always look back on would be our billboard in New York, when it first happened on July 1. I think that was like a moment I’ll always touch base with and just, you know, share it with my family one day.”
The Cavinder sisters were some of the first athletes to strike an NIL deal moments after the historic landmark case that gave collegiate-level athletes the rights to their name, image, and likeness. The duo did so while still at Fresno State. Ultimately, around that time, the twins entered into a handful of endorsement agreements. However, for Haley Cavinder’s memory banks, it is the Boost Mobile billboard that was up in Times Square that she will cherish the most.

After a year long absence from collegiate athletics, the Cavinder twins opted to once again become college athletes, using their final year of eligibility to play at Miami. But with their return to college sports also comes a return to the NIL atmosphere, Haley and Hannah Cavinder announced they have agreed to a partnership with Slate Milk. The company, which is known for its protein drinks, is also partnered with NFL star Maxx Crosby and fellow Miami representative Duncan Robinson of the Miami Heat.
This is not the Cavinder sister’s first time suiting up for the Hurricanes. For the 2022- 23 season, the twins teamed up and were a part of Miami’s improbable run to the Elite Eight — their first time making it that far in the NCAA women’s basketball championship tournament in program history. That year, the Cavinder sisters helped Miami to a 22-13 regular season record and were 11-3 in the ACC under former head coach Katie Meier.
