Hanna Cavinder denies having any involvement in Carson Beck transfer to Miami

On Tuesday, SportsCenter took a visit to Miami‘s campus to meet with several of the stars on campus. Naturally, ESPN’s Christine Williamson met with Miami women’s basketball twins Haley and Hanna Cavinder.
The latter of the two is dating new Miami QB Carson Beck, who transferred to the program this offseason after spending four seasons at Georgia. When Beck announced he was transferring to Miami, many fans suspected his relationship with Hanna Cavinder was the key factor behind his decision.
However, on Tuesday, Cavinder denied having any involvement in Beck’s decision to join the Hurricanes.
“Obviously, the University of Miami is an amazing campus, and I think it was the best decision for him,” Cavinder said. “I think he’s gonna love the university. Obviously, I love Miami, so I will stay here. My family’s in Fort Lauderdale, but yeah, I’m super excited for him and to be able to watch him play.
“Honestly, I was not involved at all. I know that a lot of people probably think that. But no, I was not involved at all. It was honestly what was the best decision for him and where he was gonna fit and be able to be successful. I’m super excited for him. It’s very convenient. Obviously, you can’t beat Miami and the people here.”
Whether or not it was the right decision, it was a surprising one. Beck was Georgia’s starting quarterback for two seasons and most experts expected Beck to enter the 2025 NFL Draft after the season.
Alas, Beck’s plans changed after his season came to an abrupt end when he suffered a season-ending UCL injury on the final play of the first half of Georgia’s win over Texas in the SEC Championship.

Beck finished the 2024 campaign with 3,485 yards and 28 touchdowns while throwing 12 interceptions. Now, Beck is diligently working on his recovery and is reportedly “a couple of weeks” away from resuming throwing.
Miami head coach Mario Cristobal is excited to see what Carson Beck can accomplish with the Hurricanes.
“(We wanted Beck for) a lot of the reasons why we liked Cam (Ward) — besides the accuracy and the strong arm, and the ability to just elevate a football team, the guy is just poised to have a great season with the right protection, the right scheme,” Cristobal said.
“Our scheme fits him, our scheme is designed to be really powerful and strong upfront, to get the ball to the playmakers outside, to protect him really well and a very diversified passing game that has a lot of autonomy to it. So he fits us perfectly.”
